Key organizations come together to launch Advanced Stroke Life Support® around the world
In celebration of World Stroke Day on the 29th of October, the Association and the University of Miami Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education are proud to announce the global launch of the Advanced Stroke Life Support® (ASLS®) Blended Learning Course.
This innovative program combines online learning with hands-on training to better equip prehospital and in-hospital health care professionals worldwide with the tools they need to quickly and effectively identify, evaluate and manage patients with stroke.
A key feature of the ASLS Blended Learning model is the flexibility and convenience, which allows practitioners to complete the eLearning component at times and in settings that work for them, maximizing the in-person time for skills practice and evaluation. “The adaptive learning format allows for truly individualized learning, where every learner experiences the course differently based on their level of experience and demonstrated content proficiency,” said Dr. Ivette Motola, Professor of Emergency Medicine at The Gordon Center during an August 2024 training in South Africa. (Article published in Medical Chronicle (Pg. 36, “American Heart Association brings advanced life support to SA”)). “That’s part of the beauty of the blended model, that you’re not taking clinicians out of their clinical environment for one or two full days of training.”
Designed to advanced stroke systems of care across regions, the ASLS program meets the professional education requirements for the Association’s International Stroke Center Certification and is currently available in Germany, India, Mexico, South Africa and in the Middle East region. The Association and The Gordon Center aim to expand and to build a capacity around the globe to improve outcomes for stroke patients everywhere.
